Riyadh Air Launches Kuala Lumpur Service, Establishing its First Gateway into Southeast Asia

Riyadh Air, the Kingdom’s new national carrier, has celebrated the launch of its inaugural service between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur, establishing its first gateway into Southeast Asia. Dato’ Mohd Ghani, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports; Vincent Coste, Chief Commercial Officer of Riyadh Air along with senior airport and government officials.

Matthias Spohr appointed Chief Operating Officer of Eurowings

Matthias Spohr, currently Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH, will join the Executive Board of Eurowings as Chief Operating Officer (COO) on 1 October 2026. He will be responsible for Crew Operations, Flight Operations, Ground & Customer Operations, Safety, Security & Compliance Monitoring, Lean Management, Digitalisation & Processes, as well as Technical Fleet Management/Eurowings Technik. As a member of the three-person Executive Board headed by CEO Max Kownatzki, Spohr will succeed Edi Wolfensberger. Wolfensberger will become the new CEO of Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure airline, which is also part of the Lufthansa Group.
