Gianni Infantino: French Football Federation withdraws support for FIFA chief
The French Football Federation (FFF) announced Thursday it is withdrawing its support for embattled FIFA boss Gianni Infantino and his bid for reelection as head of football’s governing body. Infantino has faced growing calls to step down over his aborted plan to sell stakes in the World Cup and other football associations, including those of England and Italy, have already withdrawn their backing.

French Football Federation withdraws support for Infantino's FIFA election bid
France will not support the candidacy of Gianni Infantino, who is running for a new term as FIFA president in March 2027, the French Football Federation announced on Thursday. The FFF is aligning itself with the position of other European federations such as Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Sweden and Wales, who have also publicly withdrawn support for Infantino. FRANCE 24's Claire Paccalin reports.
