Far Cry TV Show Adds Oscar Nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, Spider-Noir's Brendan Gleeson to Cast

FX's upcoming anthology TV series Far Cry, based on Ubisoft's hit first-person shooter video game franchise, is adding five more actors to its cast as it heads towards production. Oscar nominees Jennifer Jason Lee (Hateful Eight, Fargo) and Brendan Gleeson (Spider-Noir, The Banshees of Inisherin) have signed on, as have Hamish Linklater (Batman: Caped Crusader, The Whisper Man), Sam Spruell (Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Jamie Demetriou (Only Murders in the Building).

Ubisoft Steam games to no longer require the Connect launcher, in "initial step toward a smoother and more streamlined launch experience"

In a surprise move, Ubisoft announced its intention to remove the need for Ubisoft Connect to start each time you launch one of its games on Steam. Ubisoft Connect, previously known as Uplay, is a store and launcher for Ubisoft's games. It starts when you launch any Ubisoft game you own on Steam or the Epic Games Store. Read more

It's pretty obvious to anyone that's been paying attention that the games industry is in a pretty rough place at the moment. No matter where you look, there are mass layoffs: Sony , Microsoft , EA , Ubisoft , Take-Two , Epic Games … the list goes on. The reasons are myriad, but generally companies place the reason for 'restructuring' at the door of the contraction of the market as a result of the pandemic boom in gaming, rising development costs, longer production cycles (and higher wages), shifts in consumers spending patterns, and the hardware shortages fuelled by the rising demand for AI data centers around the world.
