Some Americans still see Muslims through the lens of the terrorist attacks. Yet Muslims are a growing, vibrant part of the country’s political and religious landscape.
While 9/11 remains vivid in most Americans’ memories, 10% of adults today were born after the attacks and learned about the day’s events from others.
Some 37% of Americans now say it’s not too or not at all likely that the United States will elect a woman as president, up from 26% in 2023.
Seven-in-ten adults under 30 say they spend too much time on their smartphone, as do about two-thirds of those ages 30 to 49.

The phrase “the American dream” has long been used to describe hopes associated with life in the United States. Over time, it has come to encompass many ideals, including economic mobility, homeownership, political freedoms and equality. Far more Latinos say their standard of living is better than their parents’ (57%), rather than worse (23%). More also say their children’s standard of living will be better than their own (53%) as opposed to worse (14%).
Most Americans think of themselves as working class, and Republicans are more likely to do so than Democrats.
