easyJet will restore flights between Berlin and Ljubljana during the 2027 summer season following a seven year hiatus. Services will commence on April 7 and operate twice per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, with the Airbus A320 aircraft. The low cost carrier will face no direct competition on the route. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website. Further flight details can be found here . easyJet previously maintained flights between the two capitals from August 2018. The airline initially operated three weekly services between Berlin Tegel and Ljubljana. Operations were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, after which the carrier discontinued the route. The new service forms part of easyJet’s renewed expansion in the Slovenian capital. The airline launched flights from Manchester in November 2025, followed by the introduction of services from Edinburgh in April this year. A new three weekly operation from London Luton will commence on October 26, complementing its longstanding flights from London Gatwick. With the addition of Berlin, easyJet will serve five destinations from Ljubljana during the 2027 summer season: Berlin, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester. easyJet is also in the process of acquiring Ljubljana-based aircraft maintenance provider Adria Tehnika from Czech investment fund Hartenberg Holding. The agreement was announced in December 2025, with the airline planning to bring more of its heavy maintenance operations in-house. easyJet has worked with Adria Tehnika for almost a decade, during which the Slovenian company has performed more than 200 heavy maintenance checks on its Airbus aircraft. Slovenia’s Competition Protection Agency approved the acquisition in February. However, its completion was delayed after the Kranj District Court temporarily prevented Hartenberg from disposing of its stake amid a dispute with a former minority shareholder over how the investment fund obtained full ownership of the maintenance provider The Berlin announcement comes as the Slovenian government evaluates applications submitted under its latest tender aimed at improving the country’s air connectivity. Four bids were received by the August 31 deadline during the second round of the tenth public call. Armenian low cost carrier FlyOne Armenia will launch a new two weekly service between Yerevan and Belgrade during the upcoming winter season. Flights will commence on December 15 and operate on Tuesdays and Fridays with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The carrier will face no direct competition on the route. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website, while further flight details can be found here . Services are currently scheduled until the end of the 2026/27 winter season, in late March. The new service will mark the first time the Serbian and Armenian capitals have been linked by scheduled nonstop flights. FlyOne Armenia commenced operations in 2021 and is affiliated with Moldova’s FlyOne. Based at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport, the airline operates scheduled and charter flights to destinations across Europe, Russia and the Middle East, primarily using Airbus A320-family aircraft. The development comes after Air Serbia said it plans to launch flights to Yerevan , following the success of its services to Tbilisi and Baku, both of which were introduced over the past year and a half. However, the Serbian carrier has also said it aims to attract more partner airlines to Belgrade, generating additional transfer traffic for its own network. Croatia Airlines has tentatively scheduled the retirement of its remaining Airbus A319 aircraft for next month as it accelerates its transition towards an all-A220 in-house fleet. Based on the carrier’s current schedule filing, the type is due to operate its final commercial service on October 11. The A319’s last day of operations is presently scheduled to involve flights from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, continuing to Rome, before returning to Dubrovnik and finally Zagreb. However, the allocation remains tentative and is highly likely to change as the airline adjusts its fleet deployment. Nevertheless, the filing provides an indication that Croatia Airlines plans to end A319 operations imminently. The carrier currently has four active A319s, registered 9A-CTG, 9A-CTH, 9A-CTL and 9A-CTN. The type has formed part of Croatia Airlines’ fleet since 1998 and has been deployed extensively across its domestic and European network. The aircraft are configured with 144 seats. Their withdrawal will follow the retirement of Croatia Airlines’ final Airbus A320 earlier this year. The last aircraft of the type, registered 9A-CTO, operated its final commercial service between Zagreb and Amsterdam on January 26, bringing an end to almost three decades of A320 operations at the airline. The accelerated phase-out of the A319s comes as Croatia Airlines continues the largest fleet renewal programme in its history. The carrier currently operates eleven A220s, comprising nine A220-300s and two smaller A220-100s. It expects to take delivery of a further three A220 aircraft by the end of this year, subject to the manufacturer’s delivery schedule. The fifteenth and final jet from the current order is due to arrive in 2027. Croatia Airlines will continue operating its remaining three Dash 8 Q400 turboprops during the 2026/27 winter season. They are expected to be retired at the end of the scheduling period in late March 2027. The airline will then operate an all-A220 in-house fleet, supplemented by wet-leased ATR72 turboprops. Air Serbia has retired its third Airbus A319 aircraft, registered YU-APB. The 22-year-old aircraft left Belgrade yesterday for Teesside, with its last revenue service operated on September 8 from Tivat to Nikola Tesla Airport. Air Serbia initiated a gradual, phased retirement of its A319 fleet last year with the withdrawal of its first aircraft of the type, registered YU-APK. It was followed by the second this June, YU-APD. The flag carrier plans to completely phase out the A319s over a three to five-year period, replacing them with larger A320s and more Embraer E195 jets. All three A319s that have now left the fleet were either 21 or 22 years old. So far this year, the airline has taken delivery of three A320s and one E195. The carrier’s CEO, Jiri Marek, noted that in addition to the incoming aircraft, it is seeking further capacity for the 2027 summer season. With the planned arrival of two aircraft, Air Serbia’s in-house Embraer fleet will grow to five, supplemented by four Bulgaria Air E190s wet-leased until the end of the 2027 summer season. Meanwhile, its A320 fleet will increase to seven aircraft. Commenting on its Embraer fleet earlier this year, Mr Marek previously noted, “There will be a significant number of [E195]-E1 aircraft available on the market. At present, several carriers, including Azul and JetBlue, are phasing out E1 aircraft, while LOT Polish Airlines is set to transition to the A220, creating favourable market availability. For us, this represents an ideal opportunity. This type allows us not only to further increase frequencies, but also to sustain routes year-round. Given the strong seasonality in our network, such aircraft enable us to maintain most destinations during the winter season as well”. On the A320s, the CEO added, “Introducing more A320s into service is part of Air Serbia’s continuous fleet renewal process. We are gradually replacing older A319 models with these aircraft, increasing the number of available seats and improving operational efficiency. Our goal is to develop the fleet in a long-term and planned manner, adapting its structure to market needs and the company’s future growth.
