USD/CAD: Bullish Flag After the News

After last night’s news and speeches, FX:USDCAD USD/CAD continued its previous bullish trend. The move was strong, but since the Asian session, price has entered a period of consolidation and is now forming a Bullish Flag on the M15 timeframe. For me, this is an important part of the setup. A strong move followed by a controlled correction can create the conditions for another continuation. But the flag itself is not an entry signal. I want the market to prove that buyers are still in control. Trading Setup Main Scenario — Bullish Continuation I’m watching for a clean breakout from the upper boundary of the flag. The preferred sequence is: Breakout → Retest → Bullish Price Action → Entry A strong breakout without a retest can still work, but chasing the first candle is not the approach I prefer. If price breaks the flag and successfully holds the broken resistance as support, the continuation setup becomes more interesting. Alternative Scenario If the flag breaks to the downside and price starts accepting below the structure, the bullish continuation setup loses strength. In that case, I would rather reassess the market than force a long position. A corrective flag can become a reversal structure if buyers fail to defend it. Why the Market Is Interesting Now The latest move came after the Federal Reserve raised its policy rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00%. The decision initially strengthened the U.S. Dollar, with the Dollar reaching a seven-week high before giving back part of the move. CXM:DOLLAR USD/ BMFBOVESPA:CAD1! CAD is also sensitive to oil because Canada is a major oil exporter. Recent weakness in oil prices has removed some support for the Canadian Dollar, while the Fed's more hawkish stance has supported the U.S. Dollar. That gives us an interesting combination to watch: Fed → USD strength Oil → CAD strength/weakness Price Action → Confirmation The fundamental picture can support the directional idea, but the entry still comes from the chart. My Approach I don't want to buy simply because the trend is bullish. I want to see the correction finish. Bullish Flag → Breakout → Retest → Confirmation If that sequence appears, the setup becomes much cleaner. If the structure breaks down, we reassess. The market has already made its move. New Mac Mini Has Two Storage Downsides, Including Unremovable SSD

As confirmed by the website "Expand Mac mini," NAND storage in the new Mac mini models with the M6 and M5 Pro chips is soldered to the logic board, whereas the previous models with the M4 and M4 Pro chips have removable storage that can be upgraded. In other words, the new Mac mini does not support aftermarket storage upgrades. "Expand Mac mini" offers plug-and-play SSD modules that are functionally equivalent to Apple's proprietary modules, yet hundreds of dollars cheaper. As a result, customers were able to save a significant amount of money by configuring their Mac mini with the minimum 256GB capacity that was available on Apple's online store and later installing a higher-capacity aftermarket module. With the new models, that is no longer possible. "We will keep looking for an opening, but support for the M6 and M5 Pro now looks unlikely," the "Expand Mac mini" website said, in a blog post. Mac mini models with the M1 chip and M2/M2 Pro chips also had NAND soldered to the logic board, so the M4/M4 Pro configurations having removable storage has proven to be a one-off exception for now. Apple has not commented on the reversal. In addition, all new Mac mini configurations with 256GB of storage reportedly have a single NAND chip, rather than a pair of 128GB chips. As a result, 256GB configurations have slower SSD read and write speeds compared to configurations with 512GB of storage or more, according to AAPL Ch. 's testing with Blackmagic's Disk Speed Test benchmark tool. Mac mini Configuration Read Speed Write Speed M6, 512GB 6,371.5 MB/s 6,577.4 MB/s M6, 256GB 3,216.8 MB/s 3,000.2 MB/s M4, 256GB 2,792.5 MB/s 2,014.5 MB/s The new 256GB model's Disk Speed Test scores were roughly half that of models with 512GB of storage or more. The average customer is unlikely to notice the difference, but power users will appreciate knowing that they need to opt for at least 512GB of storage in order to achieve the fastest SSD speeds possible. Fortunately, even with 256GB of storage, it appears that the new Mac mini has meaningfully faster SSD speeds compared to the previous 256GB model. Mac mini models with M2/M2 Pro and 256GB of storage also had a single NAND chip , so the M4/M4 Pro configurations proved to be a one-off exception for this too. Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 May Have Hidden Flash Storage

Apple is using a 128GB NAND flash die in Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models, claims a Chinese hardware researcher , despite both devices officially offering only 64GB of storage. It's unclear why Apple would limit the accessible capacity, but it could conceivably be reserving some of it for intensive sensor data read/writes or as a durability buffer. Something similar happened with the M4 iPad Pro in 2024, when teardowns indicated that 8GB models actually contained 12GB of physical RAM , with only 8GB made available to the system. Intriguingly, a 128GB NAND storage profile tied to the T8320 chip for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 was discovered earlier this month. Teardowns will hopefully clarify the situation. Apple Reportedly Accepts Even Higher RAM and Storage Prices in 2027

Apple has agreed to pay Samsung even higher prices for RAM and storage chips starting in the first quarter of 2027, according to a DigiTimes report this week citing an earlier report from Chinese publication Jiemian News . Apple has reportedly agreed to pay nearly $2 per GB of DRAM and $0.33 per GB of NAND storage. This is a 30% to 40% increase in pricing for these chips compared to what Apple is paying in the third quarter of 2026, according to DigiTimes . It is unclear if this reported agreement will lead Apple to further raise prices on products like iPhones, iPads, and Macs, or if the company has already factored in the more expensive components in early 2027 into its current 2026 prices. AI companies have been building out massive data centers, leading to a memory chip shortage that has driven up the prices of RAM and NAND storage chips. Apple has raised prices on a wide range of products since June, with former CEO Tim Cook calling the increases "unavoidable" due to the chip shortage, which he likened to a " 100-year flood ." In June, Apple raised prices on all Macs and iPads , as well as the Apple TV, HomePod, HomePod mini, and Vision Pro, with many of the increases ranging from $100 to $300.
